AIA Central Section Member;
During the week of April 8–14, 2007 the American Institute of Architects will be celebrating its 150th anniversary. As part of the week long celebration, 150 AIA New Jersey architects will be visiting 150 elementary schools around the state on the same date to present the AIA’s 10 Principles for Livable Communities to sixth graders.
We need your help to volunteer to make a presentation in a community of your choosing.
The presentation will include a handout for each student explaining the “Blueprint for America,” as well as a large poster pictorially depicting the “10 Principles” as outlined by the AIA Center for Communities by Design..
Each of the six sections are participating in this effort, and AIA CNJ is responsible for finding 30 of our members to volunteer. The date we have selected for the presentation is Wednesday March 28th. The time will be coordinated with each school district.
There will be a "training session" for all volunteers on the evening of February 27th. At this session, we will distribute the presentation materials, and rehearse our presentation so we can deliver a unified message as the voice of our profession.
This promises to be a very exciting and rewarding experience. I hope you will consider joining me in volunteering to be a part of this special event.
Sincerely,
Robert M. Longo, AIA
